In depth

Verdict

There was little between third-placed The Navigator and Akamanto with Funny Man further behind over today’s trip at Hamilton last time. Sociologist finally won on the Turf when scoring by a wide-margin over 1m5f in the soft ground at Hamilton earlier this month and Scott Dixon’s charge can go close again but the less exposed STOCKBRIDGE TAP is preferred. James Bethell’s charge finished second of only four runners at Ripon on his handicap debut but in a higher grade than this and can confirm running with Trumpet Man. Eastern Sheriff won at Ripon before struggling in soft going in better company at Newmarket and headgear is applied
