Captain Gerrad has the class to land another Listed prize, with Cee Bargara, Fol Hollow and New Jersey taken to give him most to do. Captain Gerrard already owes his supporters little, having won three of his eight starts, including the Listed Roses Stakes at York the time before last. Bryan Smart's youngster then tackled Group 2 opponents in the Flying Childers at Doncaster, and was not allowed to get away from this time, fading back to fourth behind the useful Fleeting Spirit, the second time he has been caught in her slipstream this season. None of today's rivals are up to that level, and connections will expect Captain Gerrard to dominate from start to finish. Fol Hollow deserves a crack at this level judged on his gutsy nursery success at Ripon, but he will have to improve a few pounds to trouble the selection. Cee Bargara has continually been pitched in against top company, and will actually benefit from this slight drop in class, but six furlongs appears to be his trip. Of the remainder, New Jersey is worth a mention, but Kevin Ryan's team are still not firing on all cylinders at present. All in all, Captain Gerrard has the look of a solid selection, and he can collect.
