An open-looking renewal. Ffos Las winner Young Buster is the least exposed and has only one below him in the weights. Brandy McQueen is the only one of these to have so far won over the trip and he ran better than expected in last month’s Pertemps Final. Prairie Wolf has found some form and Rocky Man should have conditions to suit. Langdale Lane won a maiden here in February but, like Imperial Merlin, doesn’t look particularly well handicapped. Heavy going was a legitimate excuse at Sandown last time for TWIN POWER, who had looked a stayer in the making at the same track the time before. Atlanta Brave hasn’t done a lot wrong so far but is conceding weight all round.
Rocky Man (FR) 9-1 (10-13) Headway chasing leaders 3rd, pushed along in 3rd after 3 out, went 2nd and hit 2 out, stayed on same pace, no chance with winner, lost modest 2nd inside final 100 yards, 3rd of 14, 10 1/4l behind Ivaldi (10-12) at Ascot 2m 6f hcp (3) gs in Apr.
Brandy Mcqueen (IRE) 80-1 (10-2) Mid-division out wide, headway chasing leaders out wide before 2 out, 2nd soon after 2 out until before the last, ridden and plugged on until no extra towards finish, 7th of 23, 4 1/4l behind Good Time Jonny (11-9) at Cheltenham 3m hcp (1) sft in Mar.
Imperial Merlin (IRE) 15-8 (11-12) Tracked winner, hit 5th, lost 2nd after next, went 2nd again before 3 out, ridden and hung left before next, driven between last two, bit closer and one length down when fell last, at Doncaster 2m 3f (4) gd in Feb.
Twin Power (IRE) 16-1 (11-0) Raced keenly, chased leaders out wide, switched left before 2 out, ridden and weakened between last two, 7th of 16, 18l behind Crambo (11-5) at Sandown 2m 4f hcp (1) hvy in Mar.
Prairie Wolf (IRE) 5-1cfav (11-9) Prominent, dropped to midfield 3 out, responded to urgings to make rapid headway to dispute 2 out, briefly led but not fluent last, ridden inside final 110 yards, game but no extra near finish, 2nd of 12, 1/2l behind Les's Legacy (10-12) at Kelso 2m 5f hcp (2) gs in Mar.
Langdale Lane (IRE) 7-2 (11-9) Close up, tracked leader 6th, led 3 out, ridden when not fluent last, stayed on, won at Ayr 2m 4f mdn (4) gs in Feb beating Halondo (11-9) by 1l, 9 ran.
Young Buster (IRE) 5-4fav (11-7) Midfield, led after 3 out, kept on well from last, comfortably, won at Ffos Las 2m 4f mdn (4) gd in Mar beating Lelant (11-7) by 4 1/4l, 13 ran.
Swallows Song 13-2 (11-13) Not always fluent, prominent, led 7th, jumped left 8th and 9th, soon headed, kept on same pace flat, 3rd of 11, 5l behind Shantou Moon (10-3) at Kelso 2m 7f hcp (4) gd in Feb.
Atlanta Brave (IRE) 7-2 (11-11) Chased leaders, pushed along when squeezed up between horses after 4 out, soon badly outpaced, plugged on, 4th of 9, 17 1/4l behind Blow Your Wad (11-11) at Newbury 2m 3f hcp (3) sft in Mar.
Egbert 15-2 (11-12) Mid-division, headway chasing leaders after 3rd, pushed along and outpaced after 3 out, soon ridden and weakened before 2 out, 6th of 11, 25 1/2l behind Inneston (11-4) at Sandown 2m 4f hcp (4) gs in Feb.
