Verdict

Frizzante, with the draw and now the ground in her favour, can take this big sprint, ahead of a whole host of dangers, including Vanderlin, Hidden Dragon and Dazzling Bay. Everything seems to have fallen right for James Fanshawe's filly who bids to atone for a luckless run in the Stewards' Cup in which she performed best of those on the stands side to be fourth, ahead of Vanderlin who reopposes on just a pound better terms. Andrew Balding's charge has since won a Listed race, so connections of Frizzante must be confident that she will progress here off a mark 93, raised only three pounds. Compare that to Stewards' Cup winner Patavellian who went up a stone and you can see that she is very well treated indeed. Frizzante should take care of Fire Up The Band on these terms and could go on to run in Group company. She already holds an entry in the Diadem Stakes and has all the credentials to stop Dandy Nichols landing a fourth straight success in this event. In addition to the lowly drawn Fire Up The Band, he also runs five others, including last year's winner Funfair Wane, who is in stall 15, having been housed next door in 16 twelve months ago. The gamble of the race has been Hit's Only Money but with Kieren Fallon claimed to ride at Newbury, Paul Blockley has had to find a replacement in the shape of Fergal Lynch. He is in stall nine though and of more appeal now is the stable's other entry Hidden Dragon, winner of Ripon's Great St Wilfrid. He is drawn high and will appreciate any more rain. Dazzling Bay has won on soft ground in the past, but all his recent victories have come on faster going. However, the draw has been kind to him as well, so he may reach the frame. Seel Of Approval has the form in the book but would prefer a fast surface, and in what will as usual be a cavalry charge, we will take Frizzante to fulfil her potential before going on to even better things.
