From a shortlist containing Frank Crow, High Curragh, Waki Naki Noo, Weekend Fever and Ebonywood, in the opener we will side with Frank Crow. Frank Crow showed plenty of late promise after running green on his debut and, with the third having subsequently finished third in the Cherry Hinton and the sixth having won since, he looks to be a leading player in this contest. High Curragh also showed debut promise and his form stacks up, while Ingleby Arch has a length to find on that form. Of the others, Waki Naki Noo catches the eye on breeding, as does the Mark Johnston runner, Weekend Fever, so a look at the betting is advised with these newcomers. Finally, Ebonywood is out a winning American sprinter and cost $100,000 as a two-year-old, so also attracts interest. Overall, though, the vote stays with Frank Crow.
