Sprinters with hard luck stories are plentiful on the ground, but this small field can help Highland Warrior stay out of trouble and get the better of frustrating rivals such as Sir Don and Seafield Towers, who both have the ability to win races of this nature but do not always go through with their challenges. Sharoura is another that can be hard to get right; as her record of 11 placed efforts from 57 previous starts goes to prove. However, she has also won her fair share and, off a mark of just 64, she can again go close to confirming that this is her time of year. However, she has a bit to find with Under My Spell for one, and is passed over for win only purposes this afternoon. Which leaves course specialist Highland Warrior as the most reliable option for us. The gelding has found his real level since he reverted to sprinting at the back-end of last season, which arguably would have reaped more of a reward but for his tendency to miss the kick. The selection does have three wins to his name over course and distance though - where any going seems to suit this tough full-brother to Lord Kintyre. A revised mark of 72 looks fair in the context of this race and, assuming that he does not give too much ground away at the start, Highland Warrior could be too hard to peg back when the others come back to him near the line.
