      Verdict

      Several have been thereabouts lately including Thirsk runner-up Diamondonthehill while Iris Dancer finished second over a shorter trip at Carlisle. Brazen Bolt went close at Newmarket earlier and Golden Apollo won at Haydock at the start of the month but would prefer some cut in the ground. MERRICOURT found life tough in Class 3 company last time but Iain Jardine’s grey won over course and distance back in April and should be in the mix back at this level having won on this card last year.
