In depth

Verdict

Up Helly Aa King was upped to today’s trip at Carlisle bidding for a hat-trick but could only manage fourth. He’d beaten previous winner Strong Economy over 2m4f here earlier but GLITTERING LOVE recorded a course and distance treble last year. Third back here on his reappearance, Nicky Richards’ charge returns to his winning trip and looks up to scoring off his current mark. Buddha Scheme is another to consider having found one too good at Hexham the last twice but the remainder are harder to recommend.
