Bacyan, Riothamus and Mr Auchterlonie make the shortlist in a wide open affair with the tentative vote going to Riothamus. The gelding hails from a yard that is out of form at present but he has conditions to suit and a reproduction of his best effort would make him hard to beat. Bacyan is also worthy of serious respect as he won well last time out at Catterick when defeating General Custer, but this looks more competitive. Mr Auchterlonie has shown fair form over an inadequate trip and with the step up in distance sure to bring about improvement, he cannot be ruled out. One Day was very impressive on his only run to date when defeating Pass Me Bye and is held in high regard so is worth noting in the market, but for the winner we return to Riothamus.
