In depth

Verdict

Mr Woodentop has shown progressive form in bumper company and over hurdles and now makes the switch to the larger obstacles that should be the making of him. The son of Roselier is potentially a very useful recruit to the novice chasing ranks and is a confident selection to make a winning debut over the larger obstacles on ground poses no fears. Secret Progress showed ability in Ireland but the best bet for the forecast may be Reverse Charge. Chris Grant's son of Teenoso was a winner over hurdles off a mark of 113 at Haydock last season and, although the 11-year-old has not shown much since, he still rates the main danger in a race where opposition to the favourite is thin on the ground. Point-to-point winner King Of The Forest and the consistent, but exposed, Lunar Maxwell are others worthy of a mention but this really should go to the Lungo horse who, granted a clear round, will be tough to beat.
