Verdict

Only the five runners to choose from here but with the bottom three out of the weights proper it really should be between the top two in the handicap. The Nicky Richards-trained River Ness has struggled to show the same sort of form as she did in the spring since returning from a break, a last time out 27-length fifth behind Wagner was particularly disappointing, and narrow preference is for Cita Verda. The topweight also ran below par when a beaten favourite in the race won by Plutocrat at Musselburgh last month. However, earlier form when a close third to Spectrometer is the best on show here and with testing conditions to suit he looks the one to be on. Baby Gee is only 3lbs wrong at the weights on her reappearance and has claims if fit enough but it will be a surprise if either Sweet Milly or Muckle Mavis can oblige from 8lbs and 10lbs out of the handicap proper respectively.
