In depth

Verdict

Strong Resolve, Lord Jack and Direct Access are the three we like here and the vote is given to Strong Resolve. The selection is a thorough stayer who could be set for a tilt at the Scottish National later in the year. He ran well at Chepstow last time when second to Silver Birch, and this progressive 9-year-old should take plenty of beating with conditions to suit and the drop in trip not expected to be a problem. Lord Jack is a likeable type but he was pulled-up last time and his previous run when beating Gatorade has taken a knock with Gatorade running disappointingly earlier in the week at Ludlow. Direct Access won well over this course and distance last time and he has obvious claims of scoring again here with Tony Dobbin booked for the ride. He is lightly-raced for his age and he should give our selection plenty to do. It will be a surprise if any of the other three are good enough and for the winner we return to Strong Resolve.
