A good novices' hurdle kicks-things off at Ayr and Emerging Star is fancied to get the better of the penalised Rocket Bleu, who has an obvious chance after a smooth success at Carlisle when he was last seen out. Culcabock and Machrihanish are others with experience who are capable of getting involved for a place - whereas a move for Mr Mischief will be very interesting as he hails from a very shrewd yard. However, so too does Emerging Star and it is his previous form over hurdles that gives him a sound chance today. The George Moore-trained four-year-old did well to get within two lengths of defeating Kentucky Blue at Wetherby last time - form which reads as well as anything else on offer today. Therefore, as he escapes any sort of penalties, Emerging Star is taken to live up to his name and get the better of his rivals this afternoon.
