Alzerra lost nothing in defeat behind Sander Camillo and can boost that form ahead of Simply Perfect, Hope 'n' Charity and Pinkabout to name but three. Sander Camillo has earned rave reviews and is currently ante-post favourite for next year's 1,000 Guineas, so the fact that Alzerra got within five lengths of her in the Cherry Hinton puts Mick Channon's filly in with leading claims here. She will be seen to better effect over further next year on breeding, but on this occasion should almost certainly maintain Newmarket form over Hope 'n' Charity who was fourth. Sander Camillo's stablemate Simply Perfect was beaten a length by Gilded in the Queen Mary, and as Richard Hannon's filly had earlier finished a neck behind the selection conceding 3lb, there should not be too much between the principals today. the fly in the ointment could well turn out to be Pinkabout who lines up on the back of a debut success on the Kempton Polytrack. John Gosden has used this ploy in the past with the likes of Karen's Caper so it would be no surprise if she were to take a hand in the finish. A fascinating contest which should advertise the Sander Camillo form can go to Alzerra.
