Gamut may get Kieren Fallon's supporters off to a good start, with French raider Martaline and Indian Creek the main dangers in this Group 3 contest. Sir Michael Stoute's colt reappeared with a bang this season when battling to victory in a Listed event at Newbury, and on the back of some fair efforts since, was allowed to tackle Vinnie Roe last time in the Group 1 Irish St Leger at The Curragh. Despite the fast ground, he ran a blinder to finish second and the drop back in trip today, plus the fact that Ascot have watered, will be very much in his favour. Expect him to dominate from start to finish here and prove too strong for Martaline. Andre Fabre's charge is a consistent sort who lost nothing in defeat at the hands of the useful Ange Gabriel in Group 2 company at Longchamp. He seems to handle any ground and should go well. Indian Creek goes well here and has already won a Group 2 this term, so will not be overawed, while St Leger runner-up High Accolade is another course and distance winner. All in all, it has the makings of a thrilling spectacle, and we will take Gamut to repel allcomers.
