In depth

Verdict

Neither of the two with racecourse experience, Resplendent King or Just Tim, have shown a great deal of form and this may be left to one of those making their debut with preference for Caracara, who gets the vote over Fantastic View. The last mentioned is a Distant View half-brother to a couple of two-year-old winners and, coming from Richard Hannon's stable is likely to know what is required first time up. Stablemate Just Tim has the benefit of experience but was well beaten on Newmarket debut, while Resplendent King, the other horse to have raced previously, finished down the field at Salisbury first time out and needs to improve. Of more interest could be John Gosden's newcomer Preview, a son of Green Desert, but the vote goes to Mark Johnston's Caracara. The stable's juveniles have a good first time out strike-rate this term and this daughter of Nashwan makes plenty of appeal on her debut. She may be able to eat the colts and give her trainer another two-year-old winner.
