A few of these will have to put up career best efforts to score and we take Saristar to defy a 6lb penalty and do just that, with Out After Dark, Oasis Star and Khabfair others for the short list. The selection is due to be raised 7lb anyway soon and has Brazilian apprentice Nelson De Souza on board to take off a valuable 5lb here. His win over this trip at Pontefract was very encouraging as it did it with a fair bit in hand, and this stiff track should also suit, so he can make the step up in class here and follow up. Out After Dark in another due to go up soon. The winner of a Class E at Pontefract and then a Class D at Sandown last month, Clive Cox's gelding has continued to go well in defeat in two subsequent runs, and won't be far away despite looking just too high in the weights. Oasis Star drops back slightly in trip and will appreciate this fast ground. She is another due to be reassessed soon, and she has already won three times this season. However, those wins have been over seven furlongs and a mile and whether she has the speed to win this remains open to question. of the remainder, Khabfair is a course and distance winner in this sort of company already this season, and has conditions to suit, but again looks fully exposed here and we will stick with Saristar who can make the necessary progress to win.
