Amadeus Wolf can stop Takeover Target from doubling up this week, with Etlaala, Ifraaj, Quito and Noelani others in with a shout. Anybody that witnessed Takeover Target's gutsy effort in landing Tuesday's King Stand Stakes will know that he will not be easily denied in his bid to emulate compatriot Choisir in adding the Golden Jubilee to his haul. However, it will be some achievement by Joe Janiak's bargain buy, facing as he does, some very tough opponents and a longer trip. While not wanting to put anyone off the Australian superstar, we feel that there could be some value in opposing him with Amadeus Wolf who could be set to make a name for himself over sprint distances this year, having failed to stay in the 2,000 Guineas. By all accounts he has been giving all the right signals at home, and the decision by Kevin Ryan to drop him back in trip will hopefully be vindicated here. There are plenty of other decent animals in the line-up, not least of which is Etlaala who showed earlier this week that he is much better when allowed to dominate on fast ground. However, like Takeover Target, he too has to overcome recent exertions and that will be tough at this level. Iffraaj was very useful on top of the ground for Michael Jarvis and has apparently thrived in Dubai, so Godolphin are looking for a big run from him, while Quito does not know how to run a bad race, but this is harder than his usual Listed targets. Noelani was just touched off in a Group 3 at Leopardstown last month and has her first outing outside Ireland, so it is a big ask, and of the remainder, Gift Horse is worth a mention at least, as he needed the run in the Duke Of York Stakes and with Fallon up, is another that can make his presence felt. However, there could be a new sprint star in the making in the shape of Amadeus Wolf who gets the vote in the day's feature race.
