Verdict

BARNHILL BROWNIE may be able to defy a penalty and come home ahead of Toby Belch and Indian Pipe Dream. It wasn't the strongest race that the selection won at Wincanton on his debut for the yard and he was noticeably weak in the market. He did the job well enough though, is entitled to come on for the run and should appreciate this step up in trip. Toby Belch will relish every yard of this trip having already made the frame at Towcester over three miles where he faced a very stiff task in conceding weight to a horse with a chase rating in the one forties. He's entitled to have come on for that run and merits respect. Indian Pipe Dream has done well during the summer and ran well enough at Cheltenham on his return from a break but looks vulnerable under his penalties. Lord Shark represents the yard that took this last year and isn't dismissed having made some late headway behind Pride Of Dulcote at Chepstow but a significant step forwards is required. Free World showed improved form last time and should be able to build on that promise as he moves up in trip but he has a good deal to find with the principals of whom, Barnhill Brownie is preferred.
