Red Evie continues to impress and can make it five-out-of-five here, with Song Of Passion, Sharapova, La Mottie, Harvest Queen and Makderah all respected. Michael Bell must be absolutely delighted with the progress made by Red Evie this season, the filly having won each of her four starts, the most recent of which was at Newbury where she beat Henry Cecil's Star Cluster. She received 3lb from the runner-up that day, so Bell was hoping that the handicapper would not raise her for today's task, which he has, but up just 2lb to a mark of 96, she has not been harshly dealt with that is for sure. This race has been the target for some time, and with trip and ground to suit, the plan will hopefully reach fruition. Song Of Passion has done nothing wrong this term but she has yet to encounter fast ground, while La Mottie is pitched in at the deep end after coming from behind to land a Windsor handicap on her reappearance. With Wimbledon due to start next week, Sharapova would be a topical winner, and this Curragh maiden winner sidestepped the Irish 1,000 Guineas to wait for this. She is another that has yet to encounter fast going though. Harvest Queen does go on the ground and has gone up enough in the ratings to qualify for today's contest, and along with Makdera who runs here instead of in the Coronation Stakes, can make things interesting. Red Evie can beat beat some decent fillies to gain her biggest success to date.
