Aidan O’Brien has won five of the last 10 renewals and complicates matters by running a couple of maiden winners in Santiago and Nobel Prize ridden by Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori respectively. The latter could have presumably ridden Yarmouth novice winner On Guard while Born With Pride and Punctuation are others raised in class. The latter’s stablemate Berkshire Rocco was second to English King in the Derby Trial at Lingfield a fortnight ago and comes into the reckoning on that form but a chance is taken on the returning AL DABARAN. A Listed winner here last year, Charlie Appleby’s charge was placed at Group 3 level on a couple of occasions subsequently and this longer trip and first-time headgear should bring further progress.
Al Dabaran (8-12) 2nd of 6, 1/2l behind Hopeful (8-12) at Chantilly 1m 1f Grp 3 gs in Sep.
