Flying Aletha beat an odds-on stablemate in a maiden over 5f at Gulfstream in May and Wesley Ward’s filly will likely blaze a trail at the head of affairs. Roger Varian trained last year’s winner and Setarhe, who beat the re-opposing Cirrus at Newmarket, is preferred to Lingfield winner Undertake, while Valpolicella won a separate division of the same maiden at Headquarters and makes more appeal than Dandalla. But GOLDEN MELODY made a winning start at Haydock in taking fashion and the Haggas filly may well prove up to this level. Mother Earth, Willabell and Ventura Vision were all beaten on their respective debuts but hail from powerful yards that have all won this contest in the last eight years with a much better showing expected from the Ballydoyle filly.
