Mustashry may struggle to reproduce his excellent performance in the Lockinge on this rain-softened ground with further showers forecast but did beat several of these at Newbury, including Le Brivido who probably owes his place near the head of the market more to connections than form. LAURENS was second in the Lockinge when making her seasonal reappearance and is fancied to come out on top today. Karl Burke’s tough-as-teak filly has already won four times at the highest level and is sure to be in the firing-line from the outset. Accidental Agent was the 33/1 winner of this 12 months ago, beating Lord Glitters half-a-length, and also placed in the Lockinge. That was his best run for a while so he can’t be ignored. Barney Roy won the St James’s Place Stakes here in 2017 but has been confined to Listed company since failing at stud and this will be a bigger test of his credentials. Hazapour’s only previous run in a Group 1 came when fifth in last year’s Epsom Derby and he still has much to prove.
