Verdict

One cannot help but feel that given the way he finished his race at York, that Glass Harmonium needs at least a mile and a half already so preference here is for FREEMANTLE ahead of the progressive pair of Palavicini and Four Winds. Aiden O'Brien's son of Galileo was second in the Dante at York, a run that means he may have the beating of Monitor Closely (fourth) and Glass Harmonium (sixth). Although this looks a good renewal, Freemantle is a deserving favourite and with no real fears over the ground whichever way it goes, he should take some pegging back. Palavicini would be a big player off level weights but he has a 5lb penalty for his recent win in Listed company last time, whilst Cashelgar and On Our Way also have to carry extra weight. The sole filly Satwa Ruby gets weight from the boys but her recent defeat in Listed company perhaps suggested at her limitations. Of more interest then is Four Winds; owned by the Queen, he was touted as a possibly Derby contender following a Newmarket win in May but he is below that level and this looks a more suitable opportunity despite the strength of the race. At a price Big Bound could run well with this track likely to suit, but he has plenty to find with Palavicini on their run in May and is opposable once again. Glass Harmonium stayed on well at York last time and he needs respect, however he looks like he may be more suited by something like the St Ledger and he could be a live outsider for that classic for a yard who won it last year with Conduit. Freemantle looks to be the class act in the line-up and is taken to storm home.
