ROMAN REPUBLIC is taken to come out on top here; he holds Magaling, Emirates Roadshow, Deadly Secret and Uniquely Poised on recent running¿s and is taken to fend them off once again. The big danger should be Desert Creek who also has the beating of a few in the field on his wins at Haydock and Windsor. The selection comes here on the back of a win at Doncaster and he looks to be very progressive. He has an 8lb rise in the weights for that success but he evidently gets on well with jockey Royston Ffrench and further progression is expected. Espiritu took to the first-time visor at Beverley last time but his mark of 91 looks stiff, so of more interest may be recent Thirsk winner Secret Society who has been aimed at this race for some time. Shampagne's mark of 103 looks high enough, whilst Rockhampton has his first start in handicap company today and looks an interesting Irish runner. Desert Creek is very progressive but he will have needed to improve further to defy a 10lb rise in the weights in this better race, although his trainer is a master at improving three-year-old's. Stablemate Mirrored is also on the upgrade and Mick Kinane is a fine substitute for Ryan Moore, whilst Mutamaashi and Fareer both have solid handicap form to their name this season and give owner Sheikh Hamdam Al Maktoum a strong hand. Invisible Man and Eastern Empire are progressive and are yet another two names to add to the long list of dangers. Stablemates Tartan Gunna and Crackdown must be considered but it is the fellow Mark Johnston-trained Roman Republic who can conquer all.
