A competitive contest for this stamina test and Martin Pipe, who saddled last years winner Riyadh, saddles no less than six runners this time around, the best of whom could be last years Cesarewitch winner Miss Fara. She along with Nicky Henderson's pair of Landing Light and Bid For Fame look three of the more likely contenders, with Miss Fara just getting the vote. She can be forgiven her last outing as that was over an inadequate trip and a return to this stamina test will play to her strengths. Not far below the best over timber, Landing Light was having his first outing on the flat since he was a three -year-old, when winning at York last month and although 5lbs higher in this, he is clearly still open to some improvement. Progressive last backend, Bid For Fame looked better than ever when chasing home Theatre at Newbury. 3lbs higher here makes things a little more difficult, but with the step up in trip expected to suit, he may be capable of defying the Handicapper. Course specialist Man D'Argent has been out of sorts this term, but back on his favourite track may rekindle him.
