In depth

Verdict

Tillerman faced no easy task in the Queen Anne on his reappearance but should be spot on for this now and gets the vote over Gateman and Salselon. The last mentioned finished in front of the selection at the royal meeting but went into that race with the benefit of a couple of runs, most notably a highly creditable half length second to Russian Rhythm in the Lockinge. Luca Cumani's horse has to be respected but Tillerman showed that he was as good as ever when staying on into fifth, two lengths behind Salselon, in the Queen Anne and is entitled to come on for the run. Amanda Perrett's team are beginning to hit form at the right time and the son of In The Wings is fancied to win this for the second successive year. The presence of Mark Johnston's Gateman and course specialist New Seeker should ensure that this is run at a decent gallop but they may just set the race up for the finishers. Hurricane Alan is capable on the day as he showed when narrowly accounting for Gateman in a Group 2 race at Sandown earlier in the season, while Suggestive and Babodana step up in class having proven their worth in lesser grade. Dutch Gold has not won for some time but is impossible to rule out entirely. Hong Kong raider Bowman's Crossing has a bit to find on Royal Ascot form with the selection but adds spice to a contest that is taken to go to Tillerman.
