Ghostwatch won the Melrose at York but may not be suited by dropping down in distance. Midi is unexposed but will need to improve further on wins over 1m2f at Windsor and Newcastle to play a part here. Fairlight was all out to make a winning start in handicaps at Brighton but Hyanna continues in excellent form and Alternative Fact seems to be getting his act together. FIRST ELEVEN (NAP) was slowly away when favourite for a Group 3 at Newmarket last time and never got into contention. However, he was unlucky not to land the King George V Stakes here in June and had won a competitive handicap by five lengths at Newbury earlier so is worth another chance. Berkshire Royal has place claims again but Fannie By Gaslight’s win in the mud at Goodwood should probably be treated with suspicion.
