Verdict

EAGLE CREEK was having his first start since May when runner-up at Pontefract last month. This is tougher but Simon Crisford’s charge has more scope than most of these and is fancied to find the necessary improvement. Banksea won the Spring Cup at Newbury earlier this season but wouldn’t want anymore rain though soft ground would suit Afaak, who won at Doncaster in June. Leader Writer was third in the Shergar Cup Mile here last time and is preferred to Sacred Act but both Big Baz and Captain Cat are rare winners nowadays, though continue to slip down the weights.
