Verdict

On The Fringe won this in 2015 and 2016 but was pulled up last year. Now 13, he’s undoubtedly on a downward spiral and he was among a number of these who finished unplaced in last month’s Cheltenham Foxhunter. Unioniste, Sir Jack Yeats and Warden Hill were all behind, however, and Wonderful Charm, Wells De Lune and Vincitore all failed to complete, which doesn’t bode well for their chances here. GRAND VISION and last year’s runner-up Balnaslow finished sixth and seventh respectively at Cheltenham but the former was in the van throughout which suggests he might do better dropped in distance. Colin Tizzard’s grey jumps for fun and should enjoy himself over these fences if he gets into an early rhythm. He’s won handicaps at Lingfield and Wincanton this year so is clearly in good heart. Rouge Et Blanc could give Pippa Glanville a good ride if in the mood but Barrakilla disappointed at Warwick after trouncing Wells De Lune at Bangor. Eddies Miracle has a decent strike-rate but has not raced at this level before. Guy Disney becomes the first amputee to ride in this but it’s hard to see his mount Gallery Exhibition playing a part in proceedings.
