Parsnip Pete bids to follow up last year's victory off a 10lb higher mark. He confirmed his liking for this track when beating Surf And Turf over course and distance later but doesn't have much in hand on last year's third and fourth, Claret Cloak and Astracad, at the weights. Next Sensation made virtually all the running to land the Grand Annual at Cheltenham with Ned Buntline fourth and Ted Veale seventh. Astracad and Bellenos were further behind but DRESDEN was close-up and still had every chance when falling at the fourth-last and should be thereabouts with a clear round as he's still relatively unexposed and the winner has been raised 9lb. The faster the ground the better for Arnaud while Royal Regatta was just touched off at Ascot last month. Karinga Dancer looks too high in the weights, however, while the hat-trick seeking Pearls Legend is upped in grade for this.
