Verdict

Nina Carberry gave On The Fringe a superb ride to land the Foxhunters' at Cheltenham by a wide-margin. Chosen Milan and Shoreacres were fifth and sixth but the fancied Current Event never figured having been held up off the pace. Enda Bolger's charge does have winning form over this shorter trip but is seeing these big fences for the first time and will need luck in-running to complete a memorable double that was last achieved by Double Silk in 1993. The veteran Tartan Snow caused a huge shock in this in 2013 but showed that was no fluke when chasing home easy winner Warne 12 months later and should give Annabel Roberts an exciting ride. Warne looks to have been prepared with this race in mind again but was well behind On The Fringe at Punchestown last May while Twirling Magnet fell heavily at the first in the Grand National last year and that may have left its mark. Bobs Law, Last time D'Albain and Ockey De Neuillac also arrive in decent form, however, and Ludlow winner Pacha Du Polder is a rare runner in this contest for Paul Nicholls. Out Now and last year's fourth Earth Dream are others with each-way claims but this is familiar territory for BIG FELLA THANKS and Derek O'Connor's mount can finally come good over these fences. Fourth in the 2010 Grand National, he showed he was no back number when finishing seventh in last year's Topham and he beat Neverownup at Wincanton recently to confirm his well-being - a big run is anticipated.
