Marracudja is a quirky sort who will either love or loathe this challenge. Jett ran well in last year’s Grand National and easily beat Ferocious on his hunter chase debut at Kelso but then failed to land the odds at Fontwell. Cousin Pascal produced a 66/1 shock in this last year and was chased home by Latenightpass, Cat Tiger and Clondaw Westie. Dashing Perk fell at the first and Golden Tobouggan was pulled up while Mighty Stowaway was unplaced but the latter did run the race of his life to finish third in the Cheltenham Hunters’ Chase less than three weeks ago when Pont Aven was tailed off and both Cousin Pascal and Latenightpass were pulled up. PORLOCK BAY has suffered a couple of shock defeats under Will Biddick recently but looks to have been laid out for this. He won the big one at Cheltenham last year and is effective over most distances. 4.40
