Wycombe 3-1 Bristol Rovers: Adebayo Akinfenwa on target as Chairboys get back on track
Saturday 8 February 2020 18:18, UK
Wycombe Wanderers closed the gap at the top of League One to three points after beating Bristol Rovers 3-1.
Table toppers Rotherham had opened up a six-point advantage at the summit with a 1-0 win at Lincoln on Friday night to pile the pressure on Gareth Ainsworth's Chairboys.
But the hosts responded in style to put Rovers to the sword at Adams Park.
Adebayo Akinfenwa opened the scoring in the ninth minute as he converted Dominic Gape's daisy-cutter cross.
Jayden Mitchell-Lawson restored parity with a 20-yard strike 20 minutes later but a quick-fire double saw the hosts take a commanding 3-1 lead into the break.
