AFC Wimbledon reached the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their 12-year history following a 1-0 win at Wycombe.
The Chairboys came into the tie top of League Two but struggled in a game of few opportunities with the Dons now in with a chance of drawing one the big names in English football. There was almost a dramatic start as Wimbledon's Matt Tubbs headed just wide inside 22 seconds after Adebayo Akinfenwa had nodded back Barry Fuller's deep cross Dons goalkeeper James Shea was then called into action when he pushed out Max Kretzschmar's deflected shot. The visitors broke the deadlock after 56 minutes with George Francomb going on a good run into the penalty area before laying if off for Sean Rigg, who finished calmly into the bottom corner. Shea was then forced into another good save when he kept out a terrific strike from long range by Wycombe's Sam Wood and the Chairboys could not find an equaliser.
