Wigan recorded their second League One victory in the space of four days by seeing off a late onslaught by Northampton to win 2-1 at the Brick Community Stadium.
Boosted by their weekend triumph at Barnsley, Wigan dominated the first half and should have been out of sight by the halfway mark.
Silko Thomas wasted an early chance by firing over the top before Thelo Aasgaard opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a fierce shot past Lee Burge.

Jensen Weir had a shot cleared off the line by a Northampton defender before firing just wide at the start of the second half.
Northampton gave themselves a lifeline 11 minutes after the restart when half-time substitute Tom Eaves halved the arrears from four yards.
From then on it was Northampton against Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle, who denied Liam McCarron after he had found himself through one-on-one.
The best was yet to come in stoppage time, though, as Tickle diverted a dangerous ball into the box away with his foot before pulling off a stupendous save to foil substitute Sam Hoskins.
