Liam Kinsella's late own goal handed Bradford a 1-0 win at Walsall to extend the Saddlers' winless run to nine games in all competitions.
With seven minutes to go, Kinsella headed into his own net under pressure from James Vaughan who had earlier blazed a penalty over for Bradford.
Vaughan twice thought he had headed the Bantams into an early lead as they bossed the opening stages.
However, his sixth-minute close-range header was disallowed for a foul by a teammate on Walsall keeper Liam Roberts, who then tipped the striker's glancing effort wide soon after.
Bradford's ex-Saddlers keeper Richard O'Donnell produced an excellent diving save to thwart Caolan Lavery's curling strike in the 26th minute.
O'Donnell produced a replica of that stop to foil Rory Gaffney in the second half before Vaughan skied his penalty after being bundled over by Dan Scarr.
But that miss did not prove crucial as Walsall - who have scored just three goals in eight league games - panicked at a long throw and Kinsella nodded past his own keeper.
