West Brom v Norwich preview: Albion look to reach 40-point mark at Hawthorns

West Brom tackle relegation-threatened Norwich on Saturday knowing a win will take them over the 40-point mark.

Albion have won three of their last five games to move clear of any relegation danger and Tony Pulis is happy with their form.

"We're eight undefeated at home so we're in a good run of form," he said.

"We've played really well in those games as well. We need to keep it going with nine games to go."

Norwich are fighting against the drop having won just two points in their last 10 Premier League games, although they head to the Midlands club having held title challengers Manchester City to a hard-earned draw at Carrow Road last weekend.

James Morrison remains out for West Brom with a hamstring problem while Callum McManaman (ankle) is unlikely to feature.

Craig Dawson (ankle) and Jonny Evans (hamstring) are doubts while Chris Brunt is out until next season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury last month.

Nathan Redmond holds the ball during the Barclays Premier League match between Norwich City and Southampton
Image: Nathan Redmond: An ankle injury rules him out of the match

Norwich winger Nathan Redmond has an ankle injury suffered against Manchester City last weekend that rules him out of the Canaries' crucial trip to the Hawthorns

Redmond is expected to be out for a few weeks but Robbie Brady and Steven Naismith are both available again after recovering from calf and hamstring problems respectively.

Ryan Bennett has not trained this week and is a doubt for the clash at the Hawthorns while midfielder Alex Tettey is definitely out with an ankle injury.

    Opta stats

West Brom have fired in fewer shots on target than any other team in the Premier League this season (87).

The last three Premier League meetings between the Baggies and the Canaries have seen wins for the away team and the home team failing to score.

West Brom and Norwich have already met twice this season, with West Brom winning the league match (1-0) and Norwich triumphing in the Capital One Cup (3-0).

Alex Neil, manager of Norwich City reacts
Image: Alex Neil's Norwich picked up a vital point against Manchester City last weekend

Norwich have lost just one of their four Premier League visits to the Hawthorns (W2 D1 L1).

Pulis' side have lost just one of their last seven top flight matches (W3 D3 L1).

The Baggies are unbeaten in their last six top flight matches at the Hawthorns (W4 D2).

Since taking charge in January 2015, no Premier League team has kept more clean sheets than Tony Pulis' West Brom side (20).

Raheem Sterling, Martin Olsson, final whistle, Norwich City v Manchester City, Premier League
Image: Martin Olsson applauds after Norwich up a vital point against Manchester City

Norwich picked up a good point against Manchester City last week and I'm sure Alex Neil would take a point again at West Brom. However, the hosts are unbeaten in eight matches at home in all competitions.

In contrast, Norwich are on a run of six straight defeats on the road in the Premier League and I can see that extending to seven at The Hawthorns.

Tony Pulis' side just know how to get the job done and for that reason I'm backing a 1-0 home win.

    PAUL PREDICTS: 1-0 (Sky Bet's odds: 5/1)

    Betting

West Brom are Sky Bet's 23/20 favourites for the victory with Norwich given a 5/2 chance for the victory and 11/2 to secure another draw. The Canaries were cut from 9/4 to 2/1 to stay up after securing a 0-0 draw with Manchester City last time out and are 7/1 for another goalless affair, with three goals or more considered unlikely here at 5/4. Saido Berahino and Salomon Rondon share favouritism in the first goalscorer betting at 5/1 while Patrick Bamford and Dieumerci Mbokani are rated the visitors' main threats at 7/1 apiece.
