All-square in Group D opener

Mejdi Traoui's stunning late goal earned Tunisia a 2-2 draw with Senegal in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D clash. Senegal looked to be heading for victory after goals from Fulham striker Diomansy Kamara and Moustafa Sall had cancelled out Issam Jemaa's early opener for Tunisia until Traoui popped up with a spectacular equaliser seven minutes from time. Tunisia started the brighter of the two sides and broke the deadlock after just nine minutes through Jemaa. Jemaa worked a neat one-two with Wissem Bekri before drilling a low left-footed shot past Senegal goalkeeper Tony Sylva.

Equaliser

Senegal drew level right on the stroke of half-time with Sall capitalising on a mistake from Radhi Jaidi. Jaidi's attempted clearance from Ousmane Ndoye's through ball fell straight to the feet of Sall who coolly slotted the ball beyond Hamdi Kasraoui. Senegal came flying out of the blocks for the second half but El Hadji Diouf and Kamara missed good chances to fire them in front. Diouf was denied twice by Tunisia keeper Kasraoui seven minutes into the second half as Senegal laid siege to Tunisia's goal.
Miss
Senegal really should have scored just past the hour mark when Frederic Mendy put the ball on the plate for Mamadou Niang six yards from goal only for the Marseille hit-man to knock his effort wide of the gaping goal. Senegal finally made their dominance count on 66 minutes when Kamara scored from close range after a goalmouth scramble. Tunisia stunned Senegal with the equaliser seven minutes from time as Traoui picked up the ball fully 30 yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable shot past a motionless Sylva.
