Tranmere 0-0 Bristol Rovers: Hosts end five-game losing streak
Tuesday 11 February 2020 23:20, UK
Tranmere ended a run of five straight league defeats with a goalless draw against out-of-form Bristol Rovers at Prenton Park.
With the Wirral peninsula still suffering the effects of Storm Ciara, both sides struggled to find any kind of rhythm in diabolical conditions.
Rovers' Ed Upson came closest to breaking the deadlock midway through the second half when he smacked the ball against Scott Davies' post with the goalkeeper beaten.
Upson had another chance in the first half when his free-kick curled past Davies but was headed over the crossbar on the line by Rovers defender George Ray.
Tranmere enjoyed a good spell early in the second half which saw James Vaughan go close and Andy Cook volley over from Vaughan's cross.

But the visitors fought back and were denied the lead when Sid Nelson made a brilliant block on the edge of the box before Upson hit a post.
Luke McCullough blazed over in stoppage time before Jonson Clarke-Harris put a great chance wide at the other end with virtually the last kick of the game, but the spoils were shared leaving Tranmere still six points adrift of safety.
