Toulouse came from behind three times to ensure a share of the points with Caen in a nail-biting 3-3 draw on Saturday night.

Florian Raspentino's early opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Ben Yedder's spot-kick in the first half, but it was the final 13 minutes which produced most of the action in a breathtaking end to the match.

Lenny Nangis restored Caen's lead, only for Adrien Regattin to level things up once more from the penalty spot.

Jean Calve's strike five minutes from time then looked to have snatched a win for Patrice Garande's men, but Toulouse's never-say-die attitude saw Pavel Ninkov grab one last equaliser, much to the delight of the Stadium Municipal faithful.

The result leaves both teams mid-table in Ligue 1 with identical records this season; two wins, a draw and three defeats.

Caen may be new to the French top flight but showed few signs of nerves and were in front after just eight minutes, when N'Golo Kante flicked the ball into the path of Raspentini, who slammed home from a few yards out.

However, defensive frailties were exposed after 19 minutes as goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre hauled down Tongo Doumbia. Yedder stepped up to take the resulting penalty and added to Vercoutre's woes by sending the keeper the wrong way.

Yedder was denied a second goal six minutes before the interval when his right-footed shot collided with a post, and his team-mate Etienne Didot was also kept out by the woodwork after 59 minutes in what proved to be another let-off for Caen.

The visitors were rattled into action by the near-miss and as a result found themselves back in front 13 minutes from time. Mathieu Duhamel robbed the Toulouse back-line of the ball before weaving a pass through to Nangis, who slammed home left footed.

It was only a taster of the drama that followed, with Toulouse winning another penalty eight minutes from time for Dennis Appiah's foul on Ninkov. This time it was Regattin who converted, with Vercoutre going the right way but finding the shot too powerful to keep out.

The home fans had barely finished celebrating that goal when Caen took the lead once more through a superb free-kick from Calve, which nestled in the top corner.

However, any hopes that Caen had killed the game off for good where dismissed three minutes from time by Ninkov, who showed great awareness to latch onto a cross from Regattin before lobbing Vercoutre, who paid the price for prematurely coming off his line.
