Swansea 2-1 Manchester United: Hosts earn third-straight win over Louis van Gaal's men
Monday 31 August 2015 10:03, UK
Bafetimbi Gomis scored the winner as Swansea came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Manchester United for the third time in a row.
Juan Mata fired the visitors in front shortly after the break, after Gomis had earlier hit the post for Garry Monk's men.
But Andre Ayew headed the home side level on the hour mark before Gomis completed the turnaround just a few minutes later.
Swansea beat United by the same scoreline in both Premier League meetings last season, and this win moves them above Louis van Gaal's men into fourth place with eight points from their first four fixtures.
United - beaten for the first time this season - started quickly and immediately pressed forward as Memphis Depay was fouled by Neil Taylor around 25 yards out, and the Dutchman's low free kick was palmed away by Lukasz Fabianksi.

The visitors continued to enjoy more possession but were struggling to find a way through until Ander Herrera found Mata in space, only for the Spaniard to drill wide of the near post.
Swansea were growing into the game, though, and had two good chances to take the lead themselves in a frantic couple of minutes.
Gomis flicked on Jonjo Shelvey's low free kick, and Gylfi Sigurdsson was on to it quickly, but could only fire inches wide of the far post.
Moments later, the hosts went even closer as Gomis showed excellent power and skill to cut in from the right-hand side, but he could only flick a shot behind off the far upright.
It was United who started the second half strongly, as they did the first, and they were ahead inside 49 minutes as Luke Shaw's chipped cross was left alone by Wayne Rooney and Ashley Williams was caught out by the delivery, with Mata there to fire into the roof of the net from close range.
It nearly got worse for Williams shortly afterwards as he stuck out a leg to intercept a Memphis cross only to divert it towards his own net, but Fabianski was alert and managed to parry away.
Swansea survived the danger, though, and drew level on the hour mark as Sigurdsson fired in an excellent cross, which was met by a downward header from Ayew before bouncing past Sergio Romero, who let in his first Premier League goal.
Six minutes later the hosts were in front as Ayew turned provider, playing a superb ball beyond the defence for Gomis, who managed to squeeze a low shot underneath Romero to complete the turnaround.
Rooney, still looking for his first Premier League goal of the season, had a glorious chance late on as he controlled the ball superbly before bearing down on goal, but the England man hesitated and Williams managed to get back and muscle him off the ball.
The forward screamed for a penalty but the referee waved away his appeal, and the hosts held on to earn a third-straight 2-1 win over Van Gaal's men.
