Manchester City won the Asia Trophy as Edin Dzeko's spectacular strike earned a 1-0 victory over Premier League rivals Sunderland.
After the final whistle, Pellegrini was full of praise for Dzeko, as he told Sky Sports: ""Everyone was talking before I arrived that we will bring in [Edinson] Cavani, [Robert] Lewandowski, all those players. But I always trusted in Edin Dzeko and he is now playing the way I want." Dzeko himself was also pleased and he is now targeting a successful season with City as they attempt to wrestle the Premier League title back from Manchester United. He said: "We had a good pre-season with the new manager and all of us are definitely looking forward to the Premier League. We want to achieve some good things next season."
