Two goals in as many second-half minutes enabled Getafe to put their miserable Primera Division away form behind them and win at Sporting Gijon.
Antonio Sanabria had Sporting ahead in the first half - but Juan Cala and Pablo Sarabia turned things around - and Pedro Leon also missed a penalty for Getafe.
The 2-1 win represented rare success on the road for Getafe, who had the league's worst away record prior to kick-off. Their previous eight games had yielded just two points and five goals.
Sporting were much the better team in the first half and they looked to be moving out of the relegation zone and above their opponents when Sanabria, poked them 1-0 ahead from close range after good work on the left wing by Miguel Angel Guerrero.
The visitors, unbeaten in four matches prior to this contest, rarely threatened in the first half - however, things improved after the turnaround.
Although Leon struck the post with his 58th-minute spot-kick, after Jorge Mere had fouled Stefan Scepovic, Getafe's confidence was not dented.
The visitors were level in the 69th minute when Cala tapped in from close range as Ivan Cuellar failed to collect a free-kick - and the turnaround was complete less than two minutes later when Sarabia beat the offside trap to receive a Scepovic pass and shoot low past Cuellar.
The result means Sporting stay 18th in the table, five points and five places behind their opponents - who climb two spots to 13th, albeit having played a game more.
