Spain 3-0 Turkey: Alvaro Morata scores twice in easy win

Alvaro Morata scored twice as Spain dished out the first convincing victory of Euro 2016 by thrashing Turkey 3-0.

The result means Vincent del Bosque's men are guaranteed to qualify from Group D with a game to spare after Morata's double and a strike from Nolito.

The current European champions have not lost a game at the Euros since 2004, going on a run of 14 games without a loss after winning the competition twice in succession.

Spain face Croatia on Tuesday to decide who will claim top spot while this defeat means Turkey need a miracle to qualify after losing their opening two games.

Spain were in control of the game from the first whistle and almost took the lead through Gerard Pique, who headed a David Silva corner over the bar on 11 minutes.

They continued to probe and took the lead on 34 minutes.

Morata, whose place was reportedly under threat after missing chances in the 1-0 win over Czech Republic, cleverly directed Nolito's cross past Volkan Babacan from 10 yards.

Nolito went from provider to scorer two minutes later as he took full advantage of a Mehmet Topal mistake to slide the ball home from six yards.

Turkey could only stand and admire the Spanish at times as Andres Iniesta and David Silva dictated the game from midfield.

Spain sliced the lethargic Turks open again three minutes after the break.

A 22-pass move with Iniesta at the heart of it, ended with Jordi Alba, who looked offside, unselfishly squaring the ball to Morata to tap in from six yards out.

A minute later Morata headed wide before Burak Yilmaz, Turkey's only change from their 1-0 opening defeat to Croatia, blazed a fine chance over.

Silva fired wide six minutes later before his replacement Soriano Bruno had a drive turned wide by Babacan.

Olcay Sahan came close to breaking down the dogged Spain defence but Cesar Azpilicueta made a fine last-ditch tackle. Spain are now unbeaten in 14 games at the Euros and haven't conceded a goal in 690 minutes of action.

A statement of intent has been fired towards their tournament rivals.
