Scunthorpe 1-1 Wigan: Spoils shared at Scunthorpe
Saturday 2 January 2016 18:33, UK
Wigan stretched their unbeaten away run in Sky Bet League 1 to 10 games with a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe.
But they had to come from behind to do so despite controlling the game for long spells.
Striker Luke Williams fired the home side in front in the 20th minute with only his second goal of the season.
He steered his shot home from close range from a left-wing cross driven low into the box by full-back Scott Laird.
Earlier, Wigan had started brightly and they were back on level terms in the 34th minute when Michael Jacobs burst to the edge of the box to equalise with an excellent finish into the bottom corner.

But in a competitive first half it was Scunthorpe who nearly got their noses back in front just before the break when an angled drive from Kevin van Veen brought the best out of Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Wigan opened the second half strongly with Yanic Wildschut and Will Grigg both going close.
Scunthorpe, now without a home win in five games, were forced to battle hard in the second half to hang on to a point and were grateful to a goal-line clearance late in the game by centre back David Mirfin to deny Jason Pearce.
But right at the death the home side almost snatched victory when skipper Stephen Dawson forced a good save from veteran Jaaskelainen.
