Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 300th La Liga goal as Real Madrid warmed up for Tuesday's last-16 Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain by beating ten-man Getafe 3-1 at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo struck on the stroke of half-time, following up Gareth Bale's 24th-minute strike, to help the champions brush aside mid-table Getafe as Real made light work of the visitors.
Loic Remy saw red for a second booking when he left an arm in the face of Nacho just after half-time, but Real barely had to get out of first gear ahead of their trip to Paris, despite Francisco Portillo's second-half penalty for the visitors.
Ronaldo added a late third as the champions cut the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona to 12 points, while Getafe remain lodged in tenth.
In front of only 55,000 at the Bernabeu, Real started with little penetration, registering 80% possession in the first 20 minutes without threatening Emiliano Martinez in the Getafe goal.
And it was the visitors who had the first sight of goal, striker Angel out-pacing Nacho down the right and cutting inside to fire a tame shot on goal which Keylor Navas gathered with ease.
Real finally found their bite and scored midway through the half with their first real chance, Karim Benzema standing up a high ball to the far post for Isco, whose knock-down fell invitingly for Bale to despatch a clinical finish into Martinez's bottom corner.
Getafe defender Djene Dakonam was fortunate not to turn Theo Hernandez's driven cross into his own goal minutes later, but it was Real who struck next, Ronaldo gliding into the box to collect Benzema's perfectly-weighted pass before checking inside and sliding the ball home.
Remy saw red for an arm in the face of Nacho in just the second minute for the second half, but Getafe looked to have breathed life into the game when Nacho brought down veteran substitute Jorge Molina and Portillo clipped the ball past Navas from the spot.
But Ronaldo had the final word, rising to meet Marcelo's near-post cross and head past Martinez as Real warmed up for Paris.
Notched up his 300th La Liga goal with consummate ease and followed-up with another for good measure. Wasn't at his fluent best, but this was a night where Real didn't need to be in order to see off their limited visitors.
Real face PSG in the Champion League on Tuesday at 7.45pm, whilst Getafe are next in action on Saturday in La Liga against Levante at 5.30pm.
