Scottish Championship: Fraser Aird helps Rangers ease past Livingston
Saturday 20 December 2014 18:27, UK
Fraser Aird was the star man for Rangers as he scored one and helped create another in his side’s 2-0 win over Livingston at Ibrox.
Aird struck in the first half and helped force an own goal from Simon Mensing in the second as the Gers eased to a comfortable victory.
Rangers took the lead in the 10th minute when Darren McGregor’s flick-on from a corner on the left found Aird at the back post and the young winger fired the ball low into the right-hand corner.

The hosts almost doubled their lead minutes later when Nicky Clark found Aird on the right and he squared to Ian Black but the ball found the side-netting.
Aird was at the heart of more good Rangers play soon after when he cut in from the right and beat a man before unleashing a long-range shot which forced Darren Jamieson into a fine save.
Lee Wallace had an excellent chance for Ally McCoist’s men on the hour mark, but he fired over from the penalty spot after a neat one-two with Steven Smith.
Aird was a thorn in Livingston’s side throughout the game and was the architect of Rangers’ second goal on 74 minutes when his cross from deep forced Mensing to turn the ball into his own net as he attempted to clear it.
Livingston pressed hard for an equaliser in the closing minutes but were unable to break through a resolute Gers defence.
The win keeps Rangers in second place, nine points behind first-placed Hearts who have a game in hand
