Manchester United will be without Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday.

Pogba is suspended after he was sent off in the 2-0 first-leg defeat at Old Trafford while Martial misses out due to a hamstring issue.

United also have several other injury concerns as they look to claim a famous victory and advance to the quarter-finals for the first time since 2013/14.

"We can't write games off, we've been fantastic away from home," said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer."We're not going to go out without giving a fight.

"It's a difficult task but we can do it. We need to get the first goal and then we need to stay in the game, because if there's only one goal in it anything can happen. We need a good plan and we need to perform on the night."

The defeat to PSG is Solskjaer's only loss since he was appointed caretaker manager in December and he has won a club-record eight away games in a row.

Highlights from Manchester United's 3-2 win over Southampton in the Premier League

Opta stats

  • No club has ever progressed to the next round of the Champions League after losing the first leg of a knockout match at home by two or more goals (34 previous cases).
  • Paris Saint-Germain have lost just one of their last 16 Champions League games at home (W10 D5), but that defeat came in the Round of 16 last season against Real Madrid (1-2).
  • None of the last six English sides to face PSG at the Parc des Princes have won. In fact, the only English team to prevail away from home versus PSG were Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in September 2004 (3-0).
  • PSG have scored 35 goals in their last 10 Champions League home games but haven't kept a clean sheet in each of the last five.
  • Manchester United have won only one of their last 10 Champions League knockout games (D3 L6), with this coming against Olympiakos in March 2014 (3-0 at Old Trafford). Their last away win in the knockout stages came eight years ago against Schalke (2-0), in April 2011.
  • Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe has found the net in six of his seven Champions League appearances against British clubs (6 goals in total). He has scored 14 goals in the Champions League; two more than any other player has netted as an under-21 player in the history of the competition (Karim Benzema is the next best with 12 goals).
  • Marcus Rashford has scored only one goal in his last nine Champions League games (6 starts), that came in Manchester United's last away match against Valencia in December. He was the only Manchester United player to register a shot on target in the first leg against PSG.

Charlie's prediction

Although Neymar's been missed, big Edinson Cavani's fit now and Kylian Mbappe was among the goals at the weekend again.

I just can't see United getting anything. PSG can sit, take time, control possession and seeing United at the weekend, they still have defensive problems and I expect PSG to beat them again.

The reality check for Manchester United was PSG being a better team than them. I know they've got injuries but so have PSG, and the reality is this is where Manchester United are - they're going for the top four, still in the FA Cup and that's what they're going after.
