Port Vale 0-1 Walsall: Elijah Adebayo hands Saddlers victory over 10-man Vale
Saturday 7 December 2019 19:34, UK
Ten-man Port Vale suffered their first home league defeat of the season with a 1-0 defeat to struggling Walsall.
Tom Conlon was sent off for an apparent elbow on Josh Gordon in the 82nd minute after Elijah Adebayo had scored the only goal at Vale Park.
Both sides battled in an opening period that lacked any real quality.
Jake Taylor squandered a decent chance when he nodded Callum Evans' cross wide.
Just before the break Cristian Montano's deflected strike flew just wide as the hosts started to pile on the pressure.

But it was the struggling Saddlers who broke the deadlock seconds after the restart.
Wesley McDonald did well to deliver a teasing ball across the face of goal, with Adebayo on hand to tap home from close range.
Just before the hour Smith tamely headed wide from a good position.
And Smith failed to divert a header goalwards after powering Conlon's corner over at the back post.
With 10 minutes left Leon Legge was inches away from grabbing an equaliser when he saw his effort from Conlon's corner come back off the post.
